Curriculum

The Curriculum screen is used to add, edit and view the curriculum records used in the Education Tracking system. All courses must be assigned to a curriculum, either directly or via a category which is in turn assigned to a curriculum. The curriculum requirements are assigned to employees based on the organization unit, job class or position of their labor distribution assignments. For example, there may be education requirements for all the employees in a facility in the organization (Organization Unit assignment), additional requirements for all RN's (Job Class assignment) in an organization, then additional requirements for the RN's who work in the ICU department (Position requirements).

Steps for Creating and Assigning a Curriculum Requirement

To create and assign a curriculum requirement, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Configuration section>Education Tracking card, select the Curriculum icon.
  2. Click on the Add button to open a screen to create a new record.
  3. Enter a Code and Description to identify the record.
  4. Enter a Default Effective Date and the Default Expiration Date, if applicable, to indicate the defaulted effective date range of this curriculum when it is assigned. These values can be updated.
  5. In the Use Hire Date field, indicate whether this requirement expiration should be based on the employees' hire date (Yes) rather than the employees' position assignment date (No).
  6. In the Requirement Exempt Date field, enter the hire date from which the course requirements of this curriculum are validated. If an employee was hired before this date, the requirements are not validated.
  7. Save the record.
  8. Courses and Categories can be assigned to the curriculum to indicate the education requirements of this curriculum. The following section option buttons are available in the left pane. Click on the links below to open the related help documentation on assigning courses and categories to the curriculum.
  9. Once the education requirements are established, the employees who must meet these requirements must be selected. The curriculum can be assigned at the Job Class, Position and/or Organization Unit level.
  10. Click on the links below to open the related help documentation on assigning the curriculum to these labor distributions.
