Set Up Exception Messages

A calculation exception occurs when an employee clocks using a grant or project code for a grant or project that is inactive. The exception message appears on the Exceptions card on the employee's TCS screen.

For the exception message to appear, the Inactive Labor assignment code indicator needs to be set to Y. This indicator is commonly set to Y during configuration and may already be set correctly.

To verify the setting of the indicator and to change it if needed, complete the following steps.

  1. Navigate to Configuration section > Assignments card > Assignment Code screen.
  2. From the Field Look Up Values, select Inactive Labor and then click Search.
  3. Open the Inactive Labor record.
  4. Click the Indicators tab.
  5. In the Calculations Standard 1 field, verify that the value is Y.

    If the value is Y, stop here.

    If the value is N, continue with the next step.

  6. Click in the field and type Y or select it from the Field Look Up Values.
  7. Click Save.
