Selection Styles

The Selection Styles screen defines the rules used in the following scheduling features: self scheduling, automatic schedule creation, validation of manually entered schedule assignments, requests to work, and the Schedule Assistant call in wizard.

With the Request to Work feature, these styles determine the rules that are validated when an employee submits a Request to Work and when a supervisor approves the request. Depending on the authorization role of the employee and/or the supervisor, they may be able to override the validation and continue to enter the schedule. More About Overriding Schedule Validations

Note: A selection style that has previously been created for manual scheduling or self scheduling can also be used for the Request to Work validation, or a new one can be created specifically for this feature. Eligible selection styles must be configured with a Type selected of Edit Validation.

The sequence for creating a new self-scheduling Selection Style is as follows:

  1. From the Configuration section>Scheduling card open the Selection Styles page.
  2. Select the Add button from the actions pane.
  3. Complete the information on the General tab:
    1. Enter an identifying Code and Description for this record.
    2. Select the Type of Edit Validation from the drop down listing to use this selection style for self scheduling.
    3. Save the record.
  4. Click on the Qualification Rules button, in the left pane, to open the screen to determine the rules to be validated with this pass.
  5. Drag the rules to be validated from the Available Rules column to the Selected Rules column. See Qualification Rules for explanations of each of the available rules.
  6. When all rules are selected, Save this page.
